AJAX DOWNS opens its 55th racing season on Wednesday, May 8 with its first of 25 racing dates at the popular fan-friendly racetrack. First race post time on opening day is 1:30 p.m. and racing will be held each Wednesday except for the 'special event' Sundays each month in the summer and Thanksgiving Monday, October 14.
The Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the election of Bill Ford as President for 2024. Mr. Ford, an executive with Woodbine Entertainment since 2011, and currently their Chief Racing Officer and General Counsel, has been a Director of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame for the past two years representing Racetracks Canada.
AJAX DOWNS, MAY 8, 2024 - In front of a big crowd of enthusiastic racing fans, the fast filly A RUSHN LILY sped to victory in the first race of the 2024 Quarter Horse season at Ajax Downs on Wednesday. Owned by the relatively new Five Fillies Stable including trainer Chantelle Bourgeois, A Rushn Lily sped away from heavily favoured General Skywalker, to win the curtain raiser by a length under jockey Cassandra Jeschke.
Standardbred breeders Beth and Tom Rankin will be sharing their love of horses by welcoming area residents to their St. Catharines, Ont. breeding farm Open House for the second consecutive year. This event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 25.
On Sunday, May 5 the Bill Galvin Racing Alliance (BGRA) will take part in the Matthews House Hospice fundraising event, ‘Hike for Hospice.”
