The OMAFRA Equine Hardship Program is designated to support riding schools, trail riding facilities and therapeutic riding centres in Ontario whose financial ability to provide animal care has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will launch on Jan. 18, 2021, and the application process will be made available on the OMAFRA website.

After launching its two-year “Training Pilot Project for the Ontario Horse Racing Industry”, offering online courses in industry-identified priority areas like respiratory, lameness and gut health, Equine Guelph needs to hear from you again. What is next?
Jen’s focus and passion is reining horses; training them and the riders who aspire to show them. Jen is a successful show person with many buckles and trophies. She is also a versatile and effective coach – many of her students have won awards and classes and go from strength to strength. Sharon is one of Jen’s students, her day job is training people in ‘soft skills’ with a specialty in emotional intelligence and she wrote a best-seller on the topic, called Tread Gently.
Effective immediately, the full five-day (37.5 hour) work week will resume for all staff. EC hours will resume on Fridays, with staff continuing to work remotely. While the financial losses due to the pandemic have not been fully recouped, employee health and welfare is a top priority and EC is pleased to support its staff returning to a full work week at this time.

It is with great sadness that CQHA delivers the news of the passing of Gaëtan Laroche, 1941 - 2020. A dedicated horseman who wore many hats in his decades long involvement in Canada's Quarter Horse and Reining industries.
