The Great Lakes Carriage Classic (GLCC), being held July 28 to 30 at the Ancaster Fairgrounds, has expanded this year to a three day show. The first day is devoted to Dressage and CDE cones, (Training to Intermediate Levels). The Pleasure portion of the show remains on Saturday and Sunday with five core classes; turnout, working, reinsmanship, timed obstacle and fault and out obstacle.

Sunday April 10, 1963, Rockwood Trail Riders was born! Babs Ellis, Bill Hatch, Mary Nelson, Marilyn Patterson, Jean Day, Judi Abram, Bruno Piotto and Jane Bexton showed up and a name was selected. Di was the first President with Babs the Vice and Judi the Secretary. The club grew quickly from 16 members to 24 by the end of the year.

The great weekend showcasing the triathlon of equestrian sport saw 11 Canadian combinations in attendance and delivering solid performances in both four- and five-star competition.

In my mind, a bale of hay for a horse is like a buffet for a human - there is a lot to choose from and a tendency to overeat. When I am at a buffet, I look at the dessert table first and then plan the rest of my meal around that. I really need to be disciplined and mindful to eat my vegetables and not eat too much dessert.

Ajax Downs, Thursday, April 13, 2023 - Community, family, philanthropy, and his beloved horses. These were some of the most important things to Norm Picov, a man determined to grow the sport and community he loved in his hometown of Ajax. Taking the reins from his father Alex Picov in 1952, one of the founders of Quarter Horse racing in Ontario, Norm transformed his family's farm, Picov Downs, into a state-of-the-art Quarter Horse track and casino known today as Ajax Downs.
