AJAX DOWNS, AUGUST 13, 2024 - A competitive field of nine fillies and mares will go postward for the 2nd running of the Princess Maturity at Ajax Downs on August 14. The 400-yard race, for 4-year-olds and older, offers a purse of $30,960 and is the eighth and final race on the strong Wednesday card of racing. First race post time is 1:30 p.m.
One of the top contenders is James Bogar's HANOVER HILL THERESA, a 2-time winner in 2024 who comes off a stellar effort when third behind 2023 Horse of the Year Snow Moose and multiple champion Had to Be Ivory in the Picov Maturity on July 17. The 6-year-old Ontario bred was acquired by Bogar, who is from Cameron, ON, before this season from owner John Wilson. The daughter of Sugarman Perry began her career racing for breeder Picov Cattle Company and won a stakes race as a 2-year-old in 2020.

A winner of seven races in her career, Hanover Hill Theresa will be ridden by Christian Benitez who is currently tied with Brian Bell for leading rider by wins with 11.
Bell has the mount on the 4-year-old VALIANT CHICK INSNOW who was placed first in a dead heat in the prestigious Alex Picov Memorial last fall. This year, the Jason Pascoe trained filly has a win in a 110-yard dash and two starts back posted her best career speed index of 101 when second to the fleet Bodhi in an allowance race.
