Calgary – The 112 Stampede Parade presented by Suncor will kick off The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth on Friday, July 5, 2024.

“The Stampede Parade Committee has assembled a stellar lineup that has something for everyone,” said Blair Barkley, Chair of the Stampede Parade Committee. “The tradition and pageantry of the Parade Calgarians have loved for generations will meet some exciting new and refreshed entries to produce an unforgettable experience for the young and young at heart.”

The Parade kicks off just before 9 a.m. on Friday, July 5. It starts on 9 Avenue SE at 3 Street SE and will run for about two hours. Prior to the main Parade, those early-risers lining the Parade route around 7:45 a.m. will be entertained by the music dance and beautiful colours of the more than 30 acts which make up the Parade Prelude.

This year’s Calgary Stampede Parade lineup is comprised of more than 100 entries including 21 floats, 11 bands and nearly 40 equine entries, including Heavy Horse Hitches and Mounted Colour Parties. In total over 700 horses will be part of the Parade!

Leading the Parade will be the 2024 Calgary Stampede Parade Marshal, actor Owen Crow Shoe. His film Horizon: An American Saga, which he co-stars alongside 2022 Parade Marshal Kevin Costner, hit theatres on June 28. Owen, from the Piikani Nation and Blood Tribe of the Blackfoot Confederacy, has only missed one Stampede since he started coming with his family more than 30 years ago. From spending time in Elbow River Camp singing and drumming, to participating in the Warrior Ride during the Stampede Rodeo Grand Entry, Owen and his family have deep roots with the festival. Owen is also the M.C. for the 2024 Calgary Stampede Powwow July 7 and 8 from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Saddledome.

The Celebrity Judge for the 2024 Stampede Parade is no stranger to the Parade. 2018 Parade Marshal, Amber Marshall, will be joined by her Heartland co-stars Chris Potter and Shaun Johnston as the first ever Parade Celebrity Judge trio. They will select their favourite from all entries while having fun with the more than 300,000 spectators on the route.

Tune in to Global Calgary on Friday, July 5 at 8:45 a.m. to watch a special live broadcast of the 2024 Calgary Stampede Parade.
